How It All Began
Diggin’ Depot is a local family-owned business that features a giant sandbox for ages 1-8 and a dedicated toddler imaginative playhouse area we call the “Tot Spot.” But where did the idea come from? Here is a little glimpse into our story and what inspired us to open our play cafe.
We have a young son who has been “all boy” from the beginning. One of his absolute favorite things to do is dig in the backyard with his construction vehicles. We’ve seen the concept of an indoor sandbox in other states and wished there was something like that in our area. We knew if there was a business like this, it would be our go-to place. We love that sand play is an activity that’s not only exciting and engaging but also calming and therapeutic, helping children regulate emotions and develop fine motor skills.
There are so many occasions when, as a parent, you want to get your child out of the house to do something fun and let them burn off some energy but if it it’s too hot, cold or rainy, going to the park just isn’t an option. Some of the larger indoor parks are more suited for older kids instead of toddlers and young kids. Not to mention, these places can be exhausting for parents who need to keep an eye on their children, and they end up having to chase them around everywhere they go.
This inspired us to create a vibrant, fun, clean and safe venue for children that is just as enjoyable and comfortable for parents; a place where kids can play and socialize and parents can have a breather. In our facility, parents can sit comfortably and still keep an eye on their child. Let’s face it, parenting is hard work, and moms, dads and caregivers need all the resources they can get. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and we want Diggin’ Depot to be a small part of that village; a place where parents can gather for a well-deserved break, have a chance to chat with another adult, maybe make a new friend and feel good that their child is not only having a blast but is engaging in play with a purpose.

Here we are at the beginning of this new adventure. In the photo on the right, we were standing in our new space shortly before the demo and construction process began. We can’t we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this space and all the special moments and celebrations that will happen here!
